Spain fairground ride accident leaves 28 injured


A total of 28 people were injured this morning in an accident at a fair attraction in San Jose de la Rinconada (Seville), as reported by the Spanish health emergency service.

Two o’clock in the morning, one of the attractions, popularly known as ‘the pot’, which consists of a circle spinning around itself, has lost control and has been detached. Of the 28 injured, mostly minors, nine were transferred to the hospital, as reported by a public company, which details that a girl of 13 years is the most serious.

The coordinating center of 061 (the Spanish 911) received the notice at 1:50 hours and sent two emergency health teams and an emergency team from the Andalusian Health Service (SAS) with three doctors, nurses and emergency technicians.

It also mobilized the logistics support unit of 061 with the capacity to serve more than 50 people, a basic life support unit and four of the SAS emergency transport network staffed by emergency medical personnel.

The health workers mobilized to the site treated 28 injured and it was necessary to travel to hospitals in Seville of nine of them, most of them minors.

The City Council has as decided to continue until tomorrow the fair. In a statement, the Consistory has indicated that it has opened an investigation to clarify the causes surrounding the accident.
