Elon Musk’s SpaceX wants to revolutionize aviation

Although one of the main objectives of the SpaceX is to conquer space to reach other planets in our solar system, there are other plans within the company that do not seek to go that far, but that are nonetheless intended to revolutionize the world.

What if your flight to London from New York could last less than an hour? Well, according to SpaceX this might soon be a reality. The company has projected that human beings will have the opportunity to travel to any destination in the world in a matter of minutes thanks to its powerful spacecraft.

According to Gwynne Shotwell, president of SpaceX, this will be possible in 10 years or less, thanks to the Big Falcon Rocket, which is still under construction. According to Ms. Shotwell, people will be able to fly from the city of Los Angeles to Shanghai in 30 to 40 minutes.

Shotwell said that the idea of traveling to any destination in the world to attend a business meeting in the morning, and return home on time to prepare dinner is something truly innovative and possible.

The so-called BFR is built with the aim of conquering the planet Mars, as Elon Musk announced last year. Although the test launch of Falcon Heavy was a success, the idea is to use this ship to send only cargoes to space and will be replaced when the “Big Falcon” is ready, which will also be used for manned trips.

So far it is known that this ship could travel between land ports located about 3 to 6 miles from the most important cities in the world, and it would be much faster than a traditional aircraft.

Shotwell was also able to confirm that the Big Falcon Rocket has planned to reach the red planet in less than 10 years, but the tests to transport passengers could start by the year 2022.
