Donald Trump accused former FBI chief James Comey of cowardice on the grounds that he had leaked compromising notes on their private meetings to the press, revealing that the US president had asked him to abandon a section of the investigation into the matter of Russian interference in the US presidential elections of last year.

“I believe the James Comey leaks will be far more prevalent than anyone ever thought possible. Totally illegal? Very ‘cowardly!'” Wrote Donald Trump in a tweet that left the door open to several interpretations .

The US president has already accused James Comey of lying Friday, the day after a very long hearing in the Senate of the former FBI chief, whom he sacked brutally on May 9th.

The former head of the FBI in the United States said under oath that the president had asked him to drop a section of the investigation into possible Russian interference with General Michael Flynn, his former security adviser national.

James Comey admitted that he had leaked a note to the press in May, via a friend, in which he had recorded some face-to-face meetings with Donald Trump.

A point that the personal lawyer of the president has seized to threaten James Comey of prosecution. Like Trump in his Sunday tweet, Trump’s relatives had also quickly seized the fact that the former FBI chief went through a friend to denounce his alleged cowardice.
