A five-year-old boy was stabbed by an Afghan man who was then shot dead by police in a migrant’s home in southeastern Germany, German police said on Saturday night.
The 41-year-old assailant also injured the mother of the child, a Russian national, according to a joint statement that does not specify the nationality of the child killed.
A six-year-old child who assisted to the scene was also in shock and was taken to the hospital.
The police said they did not know for now the reasons for the tragedy, which started with a dispute on Saturday in the asylum-seeker’s home in Arnschwang, near the border with the Czech Republic.
In 2015 and 2016 Germany received more than one million asylum seekers, many from Syria and Afghanistan.
