A Russian man, probably drunk, was arrested on Wednesday for stealing an armored vehicle, which he later rammed into a supermarket window in the Murmansk region in the north, Ria Novosti news agency reported.

The man stole the Armored Personal Carrier (APC) from a flight school, Ria Novosti said, quoting a spokesman for the local traffic police.

The thief then drove his tracked machine through the small town of Apatity, damaging a parked vehicle on his journey before ramming the tank into a supermarket window.

Probably drunk, the man, whose identity was not revealed, then left his vehicle to enter the supermarket where he was arrested, said the spokesman.

According to the local news website Hibiny.ru, which published photographs of the incident, he tried to steal a bottle of wine during a short-lived getaway that took place early Wednesday morning.

Photos show the armored vehicle covered with snow in the middle of the broken glass of the destroyed storefront of the supermarket.
